Description: _x000D_ The Fenton reaction (i.e., oxidative process by combining hydrogen peroxide and iron) has demonstrated its ability to improve solids reduction and increase methane yields during anaerobic digestion of biosolids at domestic wastewater treatment plants. But, hydrogen peroxide at the wastewater treatment plant is needed to perform this reaction. Here, we compared buying hydrogen peroxide from a commercial manufacturer with producing hydrogen peroxide at the wastewater treatment plant with an electrochemical system, using life cycle assessment via the EIO-LCA model. Students are asked to estimate the following parameters for either chemically or electrochemically producing hydrogen peroxide: 1. Greenhouse gas emissions; 2. Energy requirements; 3. Hazardous waste generated; and 4. Water usage._x000D_
